Diana was born  in Waikerie in 1943 into the Everett family, and in 1973 was introduced to the art of Porcelain painting. Her personal quest for a sense of achievement in the art world led her to study under Australian teachers Margaret Dixon, Barbara Collingwood, Trixie Emery and International artists such as Jean Sadler, Mary Patusky, Paula Collins from the USA, Peter Faust from Switzerland and Derek Jones from the Worcester Factory in the UK.

Diana enjoyed a total of 15 years teaching the art of Porcelain on -glaze painting to a wide range of students from varied lifestyles. She is a member of the Australian Porcelain Art Teachers and was a member of the International Art Teachers Assoc. She has won many prizes in this field. In the past ten years she has diversified and expanded her knowledge to include watercolour, acrylic, oil and mixed media paintings and  various pieces on glass and luster work.

Mr and Mrs Thumm originally built and owned the famous Chateau Yaldara where she had numerous exhibitions at vintage time from 1988. Since Yaldara was sold the Thumms  built the beautiful Chateau Barrosa and Rose Garden in the Barossa and made her their rose artist.

As an artist Diana, with inspiration from friend, well known wildlife photographer, Ian Jenkinson, has made a name for herself in the Flinders Ranges with a lot of works going overseas. Having spent time by the river at Waikerie and Mildura , she is  passionate about Australian Wildlife and the need for the Conservation of our rivers and the environment  and surrounding habitat. The magical sounds of the bush and the earthy colours of our birds and animals have influenced and made her work sought after in Art exhibitions such as Victor Harbor, and the prestigious Herald Sun Camberwell Art show in Melbourne winning prizes there since 2003—also prizes at Victor Harbor, Walkerville Art Show, Wildlife Art  Society, and the Royal Adelaide Show.

Diana had a successful solo exhibition in Waikerie at Rainmoth Gallery and a joint exhibition with  artist Pauline Miller at the Burra Regional Art Gallery. They are having another exhibition in Hughes Gallery at Fullarton in South Australia
